Hey,

I got a gmail account lately and tried to log in on msn messenger and it doesn't work. Many of my friends did it but it doesn't work with me. Does anyone know what is the problem?

thx in advance,

Mat

Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2
MSN messenger 6.2.0137

I think if you are using a Hotmail address you automatically get registered with a Passport account (which is necessary for using MSN Messenger), but if you use an email address which isn't from MS (such as Gmail) you have to register for a Passport account manually. I might be horribly wrong about that, but take a look here and see if it helps at all:

https://register.passport.net/reg.srf?lc=2057&id=486&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epassport%2Enet%2FConsumer%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Flc%3D2057&sl=1

Or try www.passport.net and see if there is anything relavent in their help section.

Good luck.

You were right, it worked !!! :D
thx a bunch,

Mat

Yay! I finally gave someone some useful advice! :D

Hi

um.... okay well i'm kinda slow so i couldnt really activate msn through gmail. Could you by ne chance tell me step by step if u can!

Thanks

Rafia

No problem ;)

1. Go to www.passport.net

2. Click on the "Register for your free .NET passport today!" thing on the top right.

3. Fill in the form, using your Gmail address for the email address box. I think you need to use your Gmail password, too.

4. I think that about does it! You should now be able to sign into MSN Messenger using your Gmail account.

ok i'll try it!

Yea i think i have a similar problem... i can log into msn messenger with my gmail account on my own pc which i registered for a .net passport on, but i cant log in using any other pc... does this have something to do with the .net passport thing?? Any help is greatly appreciated as i am always wanting to use messenger on other pc's, thanx!!

since i changed the email address of my .net passport, msn messenger won't show who of my contacts are online anymore... my friends have to re-add my address again and again to their msn contacts!

do you know a solution to that problem or should i quit msn?

Um do you know how to change your password because I changed it on gmail but it won't change on my MSN... :S

You need to change it here: https://login.live.com/

log in then click Settings, then under Account security select Password
