I'm not exactly a techie, so please bear with me. I just bought an
eMac about two weeks ago. I've been using IE 5.2 for my browser. Last
night, my brother was over and trying to be helpful. While I was doing
something else, he was adding a bunch of bookmarks to my page that he
thought I'd like.
After he left, I started surfing around and noticed that the browser
looked different from what I was used to. The red, yellow and green
"open and close" circles in the top left corner were no longer there.
They were replaced by square boxes that I'm used to seeing on my work
PC. I didn't think much of it. Then, after about 20 minutes, the
browser crashed. I restarted the computer and opened IE, only to see
the page looking the way I was used to seeing it (colored circles) and
with my old bookmarks. Now, I can't retrieve the page he created. The
only thing I can think is that he created a proxy page through Instant
Messenger. I know he was on IM for awhile because he changed my
settings on there too.
My brother is out of town for a few days, and this is not a big enough
deal to track him down over. Just curious more than anything why the
page he created looked so different and why it suddenly crashed and
seems to be irretrievable. I even checked other browsers like Safari,
but I'm pretty sure he was using IE.
Anyone ever run into this situation? Is there a way to get that page back? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
