My computer was on, working fine last night playing music, when suddenly the music stops. I walk up to it, try to see whats wrong, thing's frozen. I can move the mouse around, but I can't click on anything. Ctrl+Alt+Del raises no response, i wait for about 15 mintues trying to see if it'll come back, nothing. I press the power button, have it turn off, press it again, and try to boot up in Normal mode. Thing goes into some "Auto Repair" deal, "Attempts to fix" my problem, comes back with "Vista cannot fix this problem, would you like to send information about this problem". It has an option where it gives details of what it did and what problems it found, according to that, "System ran auto fix multiple times, and found no errors." So i try and restore from the last time an update had been installed, it says "Restore succeeded, windows will now restart". So it restarts, and again does the whole "auto repair" thing and still finds nothing wrong.

So far I've tried restoring it from various points in the past, all to no success, my hard drive seems fine because I can access it through command prompt, so I've got no ideas as to what on earth is wrong with this thing, or how to fix it...Ideas?

If all else fails, I'm just going to end up having to copy everything off of my hard disk through command prompt and then re-installing vista...But if someone's got a less painful idea, I'll take that...If not, got any ways to quickly back up my entire hard disk, both C: and D: drives onto an external?

Thanks guys.
