Sorry for the VERY basic approach to this but I want to be clear because I am frustrated.

When double clicking a folder on my desktop, it open into a window where the files and folders inside can be seen. Great, no problem here. But when double clicking and opening a folder in the new window, it opens up another window. Normally changing the setting in tools>folder options>browser folders from the menu at the top would fix this. I have it set this to open each folder in the same window but the problem persist like windows is completely ignoring the setting. I also added new action to the edit file type page but restoring default setting, everywhere, does not fix the problem.
Any help is appreciated.

Solved by deleting keys out of the registry. Deleted all actions from "Edit File Type" window under file types under folder options.
