I deleted the wrong partition while reinstalling windows and now my external drive is partitionless. I have recovery software, but it can't find my drive because theres no partition on it. I want to know if I should create a new partition over it to run the recovery software or if that would lose my information forever.

You cant do anything without partitioning the drive ... so partition it and see if your recovery software works fine for you.
