Hey everyone. This seems like an awesome forum and I really hope you can help, I’m in a huge bind. I put a computer together myself and had no problems until I went to install windows. When I attempt to install it, I get the dreaded hal.dll file missing or corrupt. I have tried the fix bootcfg command and it didn’t work, I also tried to copy the file off of my boot cd…also didn’t work. I have reinstalled XP many times, reformatting the disk each time. I still get that message each time. I have also tried to go into every advanced menu option by pressing F8 at startup into windows. I am really completely out of ideas and could use some help. I was thinking it was maybe a symptom of a larger problem? I really am clueless at this point. Thanks in advance for any help.
