You need all of your Microsoft updates and Window updates from what I can see. The Microsoft is part if not the core of your computer, allowing applications, your modem, operating system, and more. I can go over this in more detail, but notice the key words such as modem, drivers, framework, c++ redistributable, and other key words. If you take one of these out, your computer will not work or run properly. ***
***
* Word pad is a place where a program will use in the "READ ME " I would call it a pay special attention to: the instruction or something you need to know about the programs installed on you computer. Notepad is like a never ending "Post it Notes." You can post your own notations and save them and using this, there are more uses to this, but too detailed.***
***
* I'm sorry to say that you should not delete anything from that list. It seems to me that you have more than one operating system, Vista, XP , and ME. That's alright if you are a IT professional or a Developer, because you have to test different programs with each operating system and run them side by side with your windows configuration. ***
***
* I also see more then one programing language. Python, C++, Ruby goes with your binary system. Developers, It Professional, and more use both programing languages along with the other I specified in the above statements. Testing the programs and more side by side with the win32 configuration, etc.***
***
* Key Words:Win. Winzip is used to store and send large files use these. If your a Developer, It Professional, Annalist, or Programmer, do not delete these at all. If you are not any of these, then most likely you have a used computer that was owned by someone whom was one of those professions stated. If it is used, you need to do a clean sweep and reinstall an operating system you prefer along with the language you prefer. Backing up your Data is practically impossible without having a finder/locator disc and you must know what you are doing and how to do this! Along with other important equipment. ***
***
* In this scenario, it's like a web and one line of a program or word that is used to build the program cannot be left out. This is normal for the professionals.***
***
You do need an Anti-virus, McAfee. The other programs are for internet connection and other software that allows you to do more advanced highly technical protocols. ***
*Microsoft and your window updates are important. This extends your XP so that you still can be supported by Microsoft, otherwise you would be unsupported, and become more vulnerable to security issues. These are also patches and extensions. The extensions allows your operating system to work with today's technologies and more. Your server works like your client within the internet.***
***
* You need your Java & your Adobe to view games, videos, etc. Your reader allows you to read in PDF format and to be able to print in that format. You may need some updating to make sure to have the most current versions of these, especially plug-ins. The other readers allows you to translate from your language to English.***
***
* Your browsers Google Chrome or Mozilla that's a choice you have to make on your own, depending how you search the internet, and what you do while searching the internet. ***
***
*** I hope this helps give you a better view of your computer and what they do.:)

why did you say I use XP and vista and more OS?
I only use XP.
I am a programmer.

Here is a list of my installed program:

****If you are a student learning to become one of the professionals that I stated in my other thread to you. Do not delete anything. If you are a student learning how do do all the things I've previously stated in my other thread to you. Everything is normal then. Ok, Hope I helped.:)

Actually this is a notebook in my company left by a Analyst Programmer.
I know we will use Java and eclipse, I know we will use MSSQL 2005, Office of course.

But I don't know if anyone will use the whole bunch of MSSQL 2008, and I doubt it can still work. It is so messy.

Because that is what I see on that list. I will be happy to answer more thoroughly tomorrow. It's late. You really need someone else more qualified to answer your questions, because you're a student and I can't give away answers that are part of an assignment. Do you understand?
***Hope what I put down thus far has helped.

I am not a student.......
what assignment?

You don't wanna help then don't say something like this.

OK I just want to use VS to learn to code silverlight thing, but the VS got glitches so I can't open new silverlight project. So I want to sweep them out.
OK, now I will just do it on my own PC, I will sweep out everything.....to hell with them.....

Uninstall what you do not want. Keep what do do want. Entirely up to you, not us :).

the best thing to to in this case is reinstall windows and start fresh [im sure someone in your company will know how to do this and have the prober disk to do so ],not worse than a handmedown computer.good luck
