WMP 12 recognizes external drive, but lists it as unresponsive. I can burn from it and rip to it and play tunes from it, but it will not update the WMP library with the new songs on the external drive. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall WMP as it will have to reupdate the library and I have 140G of tunes on the external drive.

Any ideas?

It is a WD 500G external drive.
