Yesterday night when I tried to go onto a website it said BLOCKED BY NEATGEAR FIREWALL in big letters and has never happend before. I have tried the thing where you type in your user name and password but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thread note: the “BLOCKED BY NETGEAR FIREWALL” page usually means a device on the network (often the router) is doing the blocking, but it can also be caused by local PC settings or security software. reported the block; suggested a reset and mentioned default-login attempts. Before wiping settings, the quickest troubleshooting is to isolate whether the block is router-wide or PC-specific.

Quick isolation steps: test the same URL from another device on the same LAN (phone or laptop). If the site loads on a cellular connection but not on the LAN, the router or ISP is the likely source. On Windows, open a Command Prompt and run ipconfig to note the Default Gateway address, then enter that numeric IP into a browser to reach the router admin page. Check the browser’s proxy settings (Internet Options → Connections → LAN Settings) and inspect the hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts for any forced redirects.

Router-side checks to try before reset: look for Access Control / Parental Controls / URL filtering and the router’s firewall or block logs to see the recorded event; verify the router’s DNS entries (suspicious DNS can effectively block or redirect traffic); test a different browser or clear the browser cache. If an admin login is possible, export or save the current configuration first so settings can be restored.

If the admin login fails and all other checks fail, a factory reset is a last-resort option, but it erases ISP/Wi‑Fi and custom settings. Document any ISP account details and Wi‑Fi credentials beforehand, then reconfigure and update the router firmware from the manufacturer, and set a strong admin password. If uncertainty remains, contact the ISP or Netgear support and provide the exact blocked URL and timestamps from the block page or router log.

If you say you can't login into your router you need to reset it to factory defaults. There's a pin hole at the back of your router. Press something sharp in there for about 1 minute. Then login into the router using the default usernamer and password: admin and password and run the setup wizard again to get your internet working.
