well technically i do not know if my OS has anything to do with the issue. I had recently searched for a program to monitor CPU temperature, by accessing some kind of chip on the motherboard. 2 programs tested, both with same result: a blank screen not responding to anything but the Off button.

My laptop is a Sony VAIO PCG-FX270, motherboard is the same: sony pcg-fx270

any help on why my computer turns into a brick would be helpful
