Hello!

I scanned to see if there was a thread like this, but I didn't see anything, so let me apologize in advance if I am asking a repeat question.

I first noticed this issue with my computer would not log into MSN Messenger although I was connected to the internet, and would not log into any secure email sites, even the My MSN to view mail through the webmail.

I started thinking there may be an issue with ActiveX. I checked the security settings and made sure all the ActiveX options were either enabled or prompting accordingly, but to no avail. I ran some tests, and it says my browser does not recognise ActiveX at all. I can't download anything from Microsoft or Windows Update because I can't genuine validate without ActiveX; I can't run or scan with Trendmicro. I checked the registry and ActiveX is enabled as far as I can tell. Value 1200 is set to 0.

Despite all my efforts, I still continue getting the error: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, this page may not display correctly."

So...I'm out of ideas. I considered buying a registry repair tool, but I don't tend to trust those very much and am not sure if it would have any relevence to the issue at hand. Can anyone help me?
