I've been considering purchasing other related domain names in my industry that people might visit then redirect them to our primary website. Would this be a good idea or would it backfire? I haven't heard too much about it so i'm wondering how it would pan out.

if they are catchy or easy to remember names i dont see much of a backfire problem. more ways to get to your site = more traffic
