problems in reinstalling windows 7

I have a problem in my laptop. I
wanted to reinstalled windows
7 but unfortunately it couldn't
complete. It showed a blue
screen for one second then it
restarted. So I went to recovery option from the windows 7
setup, It detected my
uncomplete installation, but it
couldn't continue the next step.
I think I got blue screen of
death. How do I fix this? My windows 7 isn't installing. And
I only have recovery console
option. I'm using dell inspiron,
windows 7 home basic x64.
Please help. It's urgent.

Hopefully you backed up your data before you started this installation. My recommendation is not to try to upgrade from XP to 7, but to boot from the Windows 7 media and perform a clean, fresh installation of Windows.
