I did purchase the Wi-Fi adapter from Amazon. My Comcast new network showed up. I have 5.0 and 2.4. I was able to connect to either one. However, when I went to browse the Internet, nothing happened. My Internet icon said "limited". I returned this item to Amazon. I then took this laptop to my son's home. He has Verizon FIOS. My laptop connected immediately to FIOS and no problems browsing. Do you think this is a Comcast issue?

Hello, I recently had to change my Comcast router/modem. My laptop which runs Windows 8.1 does not list new network. My old network is still listed along with all my neighbor's networks. My new Comcast signal is split, 5g and 2.4ghz. All other devices have connected to new network except for this laptop. I have uninstalled Network driver and restarted laptop and still no connection. Driver is updated. I have also logged into my Comcast router to see if I could change this laptop from 5g to 2.4, but cannot find option to do so. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I ended up having to reinstall Windows. The laptop was useless in regular mode. Couldn't access "start" or type anything into "search". However, I could do both of these things when in safe mode. After the reinstall, although I can now access start and type into search, it takes a few moments before the laptop will respond when doing this. Thanks rproffitt for the reinstall info.

Chkdsk did run again at boot time, however it became stuck once more. I decided to use the Asus reset to reinstall Windows. I moved everything out onto an external hard drive. The reset has been running for three hours which seems odd and something tells me that the reset is now stuck. The reset is only at 45% and hasn't moved for quite some time. Can I stop the reset and try to start it all over?

Tried to run chkdsk with command you recommended and it was stuck on 10% for three hours. Did not continue.

I have an Asus laptop running Windows 10. Windows updated and took unusally long to do so. After the update, my screen just keeps flickering. I uninstalled the updates, and that did not solve the flickering. Now I receive this message on my screen, "explorer.exe. application error". I also did a system restore and that didn't stock the flickering. I cannot access anything on my laptop unless it is in safe mode. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....thank you.

Yes, I did reinstall Chrome last evening and the reinstall didn't clear anything up. I do not know how to reinstall IE. I did however reset IE and that didn't work. So I ran my antivirus and it picked up a few times last night.

Just now I booted up that laptop and everything is back to the way it was. All browsers, so far, are connecting to the Internet.

Thank you Oleg_3 for responding to my problem.

I guess my post can be closed.
One more thing. I just ran Malwarebytes and it picked up the following: Hijack.AutoConfig.URL.PrxySvrRST. This may be my culpruit.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L675 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. This evening, IE, Chrome or Mozilla would not connect to the Internet. I received a message saying :
"The remote device or resource won't accept Internet connection". I did manage to get Mozilla to connect to the Internet by going into Options-Advanced-Network-Connection and unchecked "no proxy". I tried to reconnect IE by going into Internet Options, Connections and "settings" is all greyed out so I cannot configure a proxy server for a connection. My other computers all connect to the Internet without a problem.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
