Well I have reflected on why my first proposal for a open source project failed. We had no base to build on, and there was to much administrivia that made us loose interest in the project.
Since then I have come up with a new project idea. I started simple giving just enough of a base for developers to feed off of.
Lite-Library is a cross platform OPAC (Book catalog) like application. It will allow users to view, add, edit, remove, and search books in the database via GUI interface. Lite-Library will be written in Python, using wxPython for its GUI, and SQLite as its database. We will store relative information about books such as title, author, publisher, genre, and isbn(13).
I would like to start putting together a team for this project. If people become interested we can all brainstorm ideas, designs, etc. I will write up the requirements and when we all agree on a final statement I will write up a task list and assign people parts of the project. We will all submit code to develop a useful application that is fun to build in a team environment.
