I would be thankful if some one explain me where to start in order to access a database in Java on Eclipse

By associating database driver with your project(http://www.vogella.de/articles/Eclipse/article.html#classpath_jar). You can follow this tutorial for Derby an adapt it for My SQL http://www.eclipse.org/articles/article.php?file=Article-EclipseDbWebapps/index.html
