Use the disk you originally installed from. If you don't have it, upgrade to one of the Express versions (they're free).

You might be able to buy a used copy from somewhere like ebay, but it sounds like you want a free download, which isn't legal.

If you downloaded it then it wasn't legal. To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft never made Visual C++ 6 available as anything but hard media in a box.
