This is driving me absolutely insane I swear. Every time I load up visual studio, no matter how I have the windows layed out, it resets to the visual studio default and it's driving me CRAZYYYYYYYY!

Have you tried setting your profile to (custom) ??
yeah, it was still being a pain though, apparently you have to create a project, edit it, then save it before the profile saves.
