Yes, yes. It has happened. I have this annoying "notification" icon on my taskbar's notification tray. I'd like one of the experts to aid me in ridding it.

Prior to posting this, I've previewed some of the threads concerning the exact same problem. This is how I've learned about hijackthis. Well, to make things short, here's my log on the scan. (Have fun w/ it...)

do you recognise those 2? If not fix them.

Here's alot of details on how to get rid of the icon via smitfraud http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic108399.html

I think it's crunchie who be able to assist you further with that tool.

Thanks for the resources! This should get rid of the problem.

Can you please do the following.

===============

Download the newest version of HiJackThis; version 2.0.2. Place it in a permanent folder before scanning. Repost your log after following the steps below. This version has features that might be more helpful in 'cleaning' up your system.

===============

Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
