Hi Samson Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs and from there you can reset which program will open which file type. Regards LJ

I'd have to disagree. I use Glary Utilities and have found that the Reg Cleaner in that does a fine job. My PC is always measurably faster if it finds anything to clean up. I AM a programmer.

I clean up PCs professionally, and have done so for twenty years. I use CCleaner, though there are lots of others out there. For some free tools try Gizmo's Freeware at http://www.techsupportalert.com/pc/cleanup-tools.html Best of luck. LJ

Are you connected to the internet by a slow connection? If you are trying to do a windows update, try to use a wired connection with a good speed, as otherwise updates can take a very long time.

If you have updated recently it could be that the shortcut is not associated with Internet Explorer. Try this. Click the start menu and type "iexplore" without the quotes and hit enter. If it works you just need to re do the shortcut. Good luck LJ *But I would install …

Have you tried converting the program to a process so it runs without a logged on account? I'm sure there was a tool out there somewhere that would do the conversion for you. I used it to run a VCN client on a server when there was no one in …

Hi Have you tried all these? This is the standard Microsoft Windows help for these symptoms. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-can-t-I-connect-to-other-computers# As they made the system it is often a good idea to check their site first. If you've tried all these, please post back. LJ

I have used this http://www.sysresccd.org/Download and Hiren's Boot CD (http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd) to fix this type of problem before. LJ

You might want to try one of these. They are free for a trial period, but if all you want to do is check what software on your PC is using your connection, you will probably only need it for a day or two. They are all available for download …

I found this amazingly useful for setting PCs with SSD as boot drive and a large storage drive. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/124198-user-profiles-create-move-during-windows-7-installation.html Kudos to "Kari"

I posted a bit of help under the Windows 7 section, and I have been asked to make the thread sticky, but there's nothing I can find to tell me how this is done. Anyone know how? Thanks LJ

Please tell us what your operating system is and try to type EXACTLY what message you get on the screen. Windows does not have such a thing as a "Status Disk".

As the laptop is only a few months old, you can have it fixed free. Go to Best buy and have them send it to HP for you.

You might need to press a special key (in my case F8) in order to boot from the USB disk while the machine starts up. That is what I do in order to boot my Linux drive. Once in Linux you can move GRUB start up files to the other …
