Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about learning more about neural networks and AI, but I’m honestly not sure if it’s worth getting into right now

I’ve been looking at different courses from places like General Assembly, Flatiron School, Springboard, Sellvia Academy and Fullstack Academy. There are way more options than I expected lol. I don’t really want to go back to university, but I do want to learn something new that could actually be useful and maybe turn into a career later on!

For people who’ve already learned this stuff, would you say a course is worth paying for? And what’s a reasonable price for a decent course? Just trying to figure out if I should actually spend the money or try to learn it on my own first

Studying neural networks and AI may be interesting for you personally, which is as good a reason as any to study it.

When it comes to finding a job you need to ask yourself the next question: In what field do I want to apply my neural networks and AI skills?

ML and AI are tools to help you towards a goal, and discovering your goal is the key.

Small world. My son taught A.I. courses at uni. But with the changes to US department of education, DOGE and more the funding vanished and he's now in the real world. Back as a software engineer (is that the term?) he does use A.I. but short of vibe coding.

So BACK UP, FULL STOP HERE! What do you expect from such courses? It's not like it will land you "the job." The other programmer(right?) did nothing but CLAUDE VIBE CODING and what a mess that was.

Anyone can do that but many still skip over the "what do I expect this to do?" or the design phases.

The software life cycle is alive and well and those that ignore it do so at their own peril.
