i can program just fine with only a B at GCSE level (age 16, basic algebra, trig, phythagoras etc...), although i must admit that 3D programming is beyond my ability

A strong will to exceed yourself is all you need to be better at anything. Math courses geared towards programming for 2-3 weeks should get you all set towards programming.

good idea. students must know atleast the basics
and the one who really works will have the queries and the quality of the query shows it

So long as one understands mathematical concepts then he/she should be fine.. For example, you don't really need to know how to do math as much as you need to know that it can be done. For example, simply knowing that integrating functions is the same as calculating the area underneath the curve is sufficient. You don't really need to know how to integrate (Calculators and online math tutorials can always help).

However, I have found it to be very beneficial to have extensive knowledge about mathematics when programming.. Depending on what you are actually programming, trigonometry, calculus, and algebra can actually come in handy ;)

:) :) Agree with you!

I took everyone's advice and posted announcements about homework help in the C++, Java, Basic, and Comp. Sci. forums. As far as homework help, I see no reason why it shouldn't be included here at techtalk and I, for one, am more than willing to help.

I understand, however, that it gets very annoying when people post homework questions verbatim and expect a quick solution for an easy A without having the slighest clue what they're doing. As Dan said earlier in this thread, this forum is about learning.

For the most part, homework help should basically be on an abstract, conceptual basis. Don't simply provide code solutions outright for people who don't try at all.

hi mam.. i am from the philippines.. i replied because im just new here on this forum site, and i really cannot find a way to create the program which because i don't really have sufficient knowledge about any programming languages and yet our professors tend to give us hard assignments although i can realy answer my home work its just that i had no choice and nowhere to run.. i really cant rely on my self and books any more so i choose to go here and plead for help.. because my recent assignment is a tough one. i really cannot answer it because i dont know other syntax that i can use for this project here's what ive known so far.. standard input output such as scanf and printf looping statements such as for and do ,while and the aritmethic opperations so it is impossible for me to create a program on a truth table generator which i already created a querry or a new tread here.. and i noticed that you've already announced that you will not help students that will not exert effort, but i just want to say is that i really want to learn and promise to give more effort, im glad to see sites like this that renders help with regards to this stuffs around here. i am hopping that you can help me please.. thank you!..

yah, we've heard all the lame excuses before.
Do you really think you're the first kid to claim that your failure to pay attention in class is caused by your teacher not being "good"?

I agree. Buy a book

your so boastful...
i did not fail to listen to my teacher its just our teachers want us to learn by ourselves and apparently i am started reading books as well.. its ok i understand that you all heard lame excuses the same as the one i did but i am not.. well if your judging me to be one of them ill just say thank you for your opinion.. thank you for this very helpful site.. i hope that youll help a lot of people

i just did is asking opinions about my problem and i am not compelling someone to make the codes for me cause i can learn it on my own

thank you!

Whatever topic this thread had, it has now become a 4 year old dumping ground for an assortment of whiners complaining about how unfair the universe is.

Its amazing skimming thru this thread,it sure went off topic didnt it??

:D

Well if it wasn't before then it certainly is now.. lol

I don't really think much more needs to be discusses regarding this topic.

i never realize until now that i give too much candies on other people before :o, i think i should implement this kind of ruling in my group XD

I want to lear Basics of "C" language..

can anybody help me with that ?

make a new thread in the C or community introductions forums , this is for discussing guidelines before posting only :)

The first thing you need to do is learn to read English. Apparently your skills are lacking in this area because if you knew how to do that then you would have easily found these links. After learning to read you need to know how to comprehend what you read. Without those two skills you might as well go play in a sandbox with your toys.

Dani, I think you need to create a sticky post of guidelines before posting. Maybe have it on every forum. This is for the people that put up homework assignments (or any other type for that matter) and want a quick answer without even trying. This forum is about learning, not about doing some else's dirty work.

i think the user must confident about his question or answer or what ever he done in the site, the userdo not take the qustion and answer it silly.

Would you like to translate that into English for us normal-English speakers?

i am new to this and i am in school
i want to be a serious programmer
please advice on to navigate through this site

It is easy to understand. You look at the top of the page for what topic you are looking for, hover your mouse over it, and then choose a sub-topic.
To be a programmer you need to learn to figure somethings out by yourself, especially if they are in plain English and so easy a six year old could do it. Also there is an FAQ button at the top of your toolbar, use it.

Holy thread hijack, batman! This topic is really going WAY off the mark. Would people please read the topic title before you start posting? Not only do you ruin the continuity of the thread but also end up sounding stupid and retarded.

Yes this threads needs to get back on target!

And the above smells like possible spam to me.

Me? Spam? Perish the thought. heh.

No,the spam replys were deleted :)

They have a 6 step program for your problem.Spam pushers should be strung-up by their computers power cord. You know the type "somebody help I am getting all this spam, after I was looking at some porn !

What about the fate of random members who join to revive a month-old thread with a random, pointless post? Death by hanging!
