Loi's laptop completely died about a week ago. No noise, lights, fans, beeps, blinks. She took it to Staples who said, yep...you need a new mother board, about $450. Radio Shack said the same thing. They were sure. Might as well buy a new one. So she did. She was all set to give the old one away for parts. Yesterday morning I asked if I could try something I'd read about on DaniWeb. Seems a lot of laptops have done this in the past. I took the battery out, unplugged the AC power, and pressed the 'on' button for thirty seconds. After plugging the AC power back in, but not the battery, it started up no problemo! I'm getting new respect now.
