i have a compaq presairo 2100 at start up comes to a point were it says operating system not found ?
its not detecting your harddrive ,on bootup go into setup/bios and see if it shows you harddrive there

...Or there might not even be a operating system on the disk. especially when its a new HD thats not cabled/jumpered correctly.

make shure and check the hd cabling and jumpbering, and check the BIOS, and if niether of those work, reinstall or repair with the install disk (for windows)

some viruses can make that happen you know, or if you have an anti that you used to accidentally delete a system boot file, i suggest you repair like quargar said.i'm pretty sure it will solve the problem.
