Hello thanks in advance for any help. I have a compaq presario 906us running with windows xp i am using a wireless connection with a dwl 650 dlink pcmcia and a Di524 router.

I just did a quick restore using the discs supplied with the laptop and am now getting a ethernet controller missing message.

I go into device manager and it shows the yellow ?xclamation under ethernet controller.
I have installed new drivers for the controller from compaqs website and to no avail I also installed drivers from dlinks website and that has not helped either.

Prior to the quick restore I had no problems whatsoever with my connection now I cannot even get a single light to come up on the pcm card.

Any help would be appreciated. Ps usings comcast cable as my isp.

could you have tripped the on/off switch for the NIC? Sometimes a real switch sometimes Fn and F3 or F? simultaneously. If it is the integrated 10/100 then try Realtek 8139 driver.

Hello, I'm not quite sure what you mean by on off switch. Where would this switch be? In device manager it shows the realtek 8139 is enabled however i still have no signal to my pcm card. There is also a wan network driver. When i go into network connections I still do not see a wireless connection on there. I am at a complete loss.

I downloaded that driver however it still does not work. I keep getting a message saying the device did not load properly. An icon does appear on my bottom tray however it says dlink airplus no card found.
