When you put a cd in the cdrom drive on our lap top it makes a loud noise, and the cd, audio or video, skips. Could this be because of a misaligned tray? Whatever it is, could i fix it myself?

Does it grind and make the sound when the CD spins? Or does the noise continue even when the Cd isn't spinning?

Yes, it only does it when it's spinning, but its not a constant thing. it'll do it for a minute then stop, then do it again.
