I have a Dell OptiPlex GX280 and it only has 516Mb of RAM and i want to get at least 2Gb and im just wondering what the max speed supported is. It has pc2-3200 and i would like to put in pc2-6400 but im not able to find out if its supported.

i looked it up, for you, pick you model type from here and check out the specs i think it might take 5400 but not the 6400.

ok, what is the model you have ,as when i go to the SFF one it clearly shows 2 speeds it takes.

It looked to me that those were for the installed system RAM and regular RAM. I was looking for a support table or something.

that the 2 supported speeds of ram it will take !
you could likely run it with pc2- 6400 but it will only run at the higher of the 2 supported speeds

Thanks for the help . I put the 6400 in it and it ran its registered 800 MHz in bios just like it should. I already had the RAM i just didnt want to break it by puting it in.
