I have a toshiba M45 stsrts up then the screen turn black and the lighted power on button gos out any suggestions and if i have to take it apart is there anything i should know

format the PC then install the OS and other application softwares you wish to use.

It could be computer going into hibernate after 120 seconds. Need more details. See how the computer going into hibernate is resolved by changing the registry entry: http://annoyances-resolved.blogspot.com/2009/10/computer-goes-back-to-sleep-after-wake.html

I would think there is a heat problem. Your computer is shutting itself down to avoid heat damage.
