Hello everyone,
I have an older computer that has no operating system on it, nothing on the hard drive, and only a driver for the a:> drive. I have been wanting to fix this and get a distribution of Linux on it. I recently attempted to udgrade the BIOS to the most current version and now everytime it boots up, i get the message "CPU is unworkable or has changed, please check softmenu". Does anyone know why I am getting this? I am assuming it is from upgrading the BIOS. Also, does anyone know a way to fix this? I have been having all sorts of problems with this computer. Thank you for any help in advance.
Nick

This subject has come up before. You can see that thread here.

Catweazle suggested resetting the CMOS as a possible solution. Since the thread starter never replied, I don't know if it worked for him. Give it a try and let us know how it went.
