I have a Compaq Presario 2195US with AMD Athlon XP-M 2500 processor. It has no power. I have a good AC adapter, new CMOS battery, good ram, new cpu. Laptop battery is dead from sitting for 6 months. When I plug in I get no lights at all. No fan, no hard drive. I followed Compaq troubleshooting which is vague. I changed out the ac adapter with a known good one. Checked wall outlet. Tested ram in another machine. Checked CPU in another machine. The board was checked and functional. What am I missing?

are you trying to boot up with the old battery in the machine or out. i know that sometimes if the battery is dead it won't work as the power has to pass thru it to get to the pc, but this is not usual with modern machines. if you can get a good battery it may be worth a try with that or with the power connected but the old battery out
