Hey,

I recently bought a new box that came with 512MB of memory preinstalled. Ever since I first booted it, it would only show 384MB of RAM. I went into the BIOS to see if if I had 384 or 512, and infact I had 512MB, but xp won't recognize this. I have an HP pavilion. Can anyone tell me the cause of this?

The remaining 128 MB is probably dedicated as VRAM. That means you have an onboard video card and of your 512 MB, 128 is being used exclusively by your Vid card. You can change a few settings in your BIOS and actually reduce the amount of mem the vid card uses.
