i have a gateway solo laptop 1100 that i cant get to boot up .I can get to the bios screen and it says entering setup but then it just hangs there .Any ideas what i can do to fix this problem

That can be caused by faulty HD. Or bad contacts on the HD cables.
Try disconnecting your HD to see how it behaves (ex. if it crashes upon entering BIOS with no HD attached).
