...I could cry right now. I've just spent 30 minutes typing a detailed account of my problem and it's all gone because the forum god said I wasn't logged in. I'll try again, but this won't be quite as pretty.
I have aquired an odd toolbar in IE (not sure when I got that. I don't use IE except to run a couple of avtivescan antivirus things). I also have a couple of read-only folders (that no amount of deselecting read-only will change) which each contain an executable I can't delete either. The first folder is called VGABOWSBUMB and contains a 237k file called Vcthunk.exe. The second folder is called compmpeggrim and contains a 16k file called AxisFlaw.exe (google searches for these names has returned nothing for me). When I attempt to delete any of the files or folders, I get the 'Cannot delete <insert bain of my existence here> : Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.' The folders are read-only and I can't seem to un-read-only them. The executables, I would guess, are running (although I don't see them running when I hit ctrl-alt-del). When I shutdown the computer, just before the shutdown music, I hear the Error noise my computer made when it gave me the error message for trying to delete the files.
Here's what I've tried so far:
1) updated and ran Spybot S&D
2) updated and ran AdawareSE
3) updated and ran an on-demand scan with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
4) screamed, kicked, put down the beer and walked the dog
5) ran that TrendMicro Housecall online virus scan
6) ran the Pandasoftware ActiveScan online virus scan
7) came here to plea for help
I turned on all the stuff in msconfig startup (thought I read here I should do that). I've restarted my computer and done a highjackthis log. Any help or insight you can give would make me dance a jig (sorry, no webcam).
Here's the log:

Thank you for your time. I've given this the best shot I have, but I'm just in over my head.
