I downloaded Spybot S&D 1.3.1TX and then ran it. It found a few items so I clicked "fix". Spybot just hangs while creating the restore point. I have to ctrl alt del to kill the program. Any ideas?

Try running SpyBot while booted into Safe Mode; if you've got some serious "nasties" on your system, they can sometimes "choke" the detection and removal utilites.
