I believe I have spyware and adware running on my computer - I am constantly getting aurora popups. I have run HijackThis lg, but I don't know what to do now.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel and remove any of the following found:

MyWay
MySearch
MyBar
MySearchBar
(Or anything similar)
Toolbar
WinTools

None of that will help with Aurora, but it needs to be done.

Before fixing anything with hijackthis, you need to move it out of the Temp folder it is in now to it's own permanent folder, like c:\HJT\hijackthis.exe (or a folder on your desktop will work too).

After you've moved hijackthis, close any open browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log please.

That was fast :)

Just need to do one more thing: right-click on your desktop and select New, Folder; give the new folder a name, like HJT or HijackThis, and then drag the hijackthis.exe icon that is on your desktop into this new folder.

Download Ewido Security Suite from here:

Install it, and while installing, under Additional Options, uncheck Install background guard and Install scan via context menu.

From the main Ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, and then click the Start update button. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display Update successful). If you have problems updating see here:

Close the program (don't scan yet)

Download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.zip
Unzip it to your desktop, but do not run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode (reboot your computer and tap the F8 key while it's starting back up).

Double-click on the Nailfix.bat that is on your desktop. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly -- this is normal.

Then run a full system scan with Ewido (when you run Ewido for the first time, you will get the warning Database could not be found!, click OK when you do).
(Note: you will be posting the log from this scan when back in normal mode).

Reboot normally

Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove Ebates (or something similar)

Scan with hijackthis and have it fix the following entries:

Be sure to close all windows, other then hijackthis, before hitting Fix checked.

Go to the following locations and delete the highlighted files and folders:

Is Zing still in business? Do you use that?

Is Freeserve your ISP?

Reboot, close any open browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log please, along with the log from your Ewido scan.

Right I have done that. However I couldn't remove Ebates from the add/remove programs. there were also several lines that you told me to fix on hijackthis, which weren't there. I couldn't find c:\windows\system32\vndprqq.exe to remove. Here is the new hijackthis log:

Download Killbox v 2.0.0.175 and unzip the file to your Desktop and have it ready to use.

Save all the below files to a text document (notepad) to be used shortly.

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Open the text file you saved previously and right click and drag your cursor over the files to highlight them and then use Control+C to copy them to the clipboard..
Open KILLBOX and go to File...."Paste From Clipboard". All the files should now appear in the box (click on the Tab and check to make sure that only the files I have identified as malware and marked for deletion are there) . Then checkmark the "Delete on Reboot" box..and click the red X. You will get a message saying "File will be deleted on next reboot" , Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log when you have rebooted.
