Yesterday, I had some Windows Internet Explorer browsers open and all of a sudden about 9 or more of them popped opened, minimized and all containing the same website (which was one of the websites I had previously had open). I'm not sure if it was a virus, spyware or if I accidentally hit some buttons.
The windows stopped popping up until they pretty much filled the dimensions of my computer screen. I was able to click x and exit all of the boxes and haven't run into the same problem again yet. My computer has been lagging a lot today in terms of opening programs and browser windows, but I am not sure if that is because of this incident and what my computer may have possibly contracted.
But, I am concerned that I may have contracted a virus or spyware. I had an outdated version of Norton Antivirus on my computer, but uninstalled it after this incident happened and downloaded the free version of AVG 2011. I scanned with AVG twice (while disconnected from the internet) and it didn't find anything. I also scanned with Malwarebytes AntiMalware and it didn't find anything either.
I read a post online that said to download Hijack This and generate a log file (just in case my ocmputer had been infected) but do not know what to delete and what to keep with the log file.
I just generated a logfile using Hijack This, but do not know what to do with it, if the computer is indeed infected. Could someone please help me with this?
