Definately for spyware but definately not for viruse protection you need a proper antivirus too. I recommend on called ESCAN its produced by microworld technologies. Excellent AV.

Not any more, unfortunately; neither Ad Aware nor SpyBot can deal with many of the newer and nastier infections.
For Windows XP, installing Microsoft's free "Windows Defender" program is something you should do if you haven't already. Links to "ewido Anti-spyware" and some other highly recommended utilities can be found in this thread.
