When you have run all those programs, you MUST reboot your machine to ensure a full log. I can see that you never rebooted after running adaware so please do that first, then rescan with hijackthis & post that log please.

I wasn't aware that you had to reboot after running ad aware and such. I did install the XP Sp1a upgrade yesterday and that seems to have really helped. The about:blank virus hasn't been back. However, the computer is running soooo slow. Is there any kind of maintainence I can do, like defrag or something. Please forgive me as I am late to the computer age. This is all kinda new to me. So, I ran the programs again, then rebooted and this is the new log file.

Thanks for your help!!!

You have a virus so please do the following: Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder or directly on the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\Program Files\SEP\sep.dll

O3 - Toolbar: Band Class - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\Program Files\SEP\sep.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinAuth] C:\WINDOWS\winlogon.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WNSI] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wnscpsv.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\winlogon.exe< file (Note that this is not the legitimate winlogon.exe file that resides in C:\Windows\System32 folder)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wnscpsv.exe< file

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log plz after first going here for an on-line scan & set it to autoclean for you.

Thanks! I couldn't do the last step, explorer would freeze everytime i would try to download the program so I just ran adaware.
