Can I safely fix 02BHO links?

I have followed Capejack's direction consisely but to no avail. At times the internet may run longer than its normal 5-10 min range but no other problems have been solved.

My new question has more to do with my hjt files. One of the techs told me to get rid of all 02BHO safely? I realize they have a use to certain searching programs, but most are programs I don't use. Also I have 6 references to About:Blank. 4 are R1 and 2 are RO

I also have these that are linked to programs I don't use.

I read up on these and realize it is tricky to fix these. Should I? If so, how do I do it safely?

You really need to stick to one thread ,and keep responding in it and stop bouncing around ,createing new threads ,It would be nice to see a new hijackthis log ,from after you ran the programs i asked you to run.Help will come to those who follow along .It is usually easier to work the log after ,Spy-bot and ad-aware and Cwshredder are run,so post a fresh hijackthis log here !!!thanks

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

Now reboot into safe mode and delete the following files and folders if found ."Fix Checked"...Reboot to SAFE mode to delete files ,How to start computer in safe mode

c:\windows\options\systools\fntfix.exe........delete file

C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1..... delete folder

to delete the above files and folder you will need to do the following
go to Show hidden files & folders
"Fix Checked"...Reboot to SAFE mode to delete files
How to start computer in safe mode
reboot computer and post a new log

Note: it says post a new log ,not a new thread !!:)

Thanks caperjack. I'm new to this website, so I'm still making mistakes trying to follow the directions. The first email you resonded to said to run those programs and then post a NEW thread. Ok, I think I did it right now.

I couldn't find c:\windows\options\systools\fntfix.exe or
c:\progra~1\NEWDOT~1 in the HJT program display, so I went to the Find option, located them and deleted them.

I reran the the find and didn't find them this time. But I did find

windows\options\cabs\fntfix.exe
windows\startm~\programs\windows\options\cabs\fntfix

Looks like you did that in safe mode??

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

Delete the WebSavingsfromEbates folder.
