This PC is running XP Pro..
It had a goodly share of the usual spyware infections which I was able to remove most, but it seems, not all.
As mentioned, I cannot get HGt or AVG to install/run.. it starts then stops, no matter how quickly I try to beat it. also, it wont open the AVG website and probably others like it.
I've been able to install and update Spybot Xoftspy and several others so the blocking effect seems to be working to a list.
since I cant get HGT to do its thing the best I could try was msconfig.. but removing any suss lines there, and there were a few of those vcxdfgh type entries, still doesnt fix it.
I'm loathe to do a complete reinstallation at this stage.
Any suggestions, please?
