I am having difficulty in removing this very annoying redirect and ad pop-up. I downloaded HJT and here is my log. Any help or suggestions on which files look suspect would be appreciated.

It looks like SearchV adware.
Possible solutions:
1. from here

Remove SearchV
About SearchV

SearchV is a homepage hijacker and adware. It sets your IE homepage to its controlling server( searchv.com) and generates popup ad windows while you are using IE. It is lLikely to slow performance of Internet Explorer.

How to Remove SearchV?

Follow these instruction to remove SearchV from your computer:

1. Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows.
2. Open the Registry Editor ( Click Start > Run, and type 'regedit').
3. Locate the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

In the right pane, look for an entry called Start Page. Double click it.
In the Value Data box, if the URL is http://www.searchv.com/, that's your culprit. Change it to your desired start page.
4. Use notepad to open the file hosts from the folder of c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Search for 209.66.114.130 and remove this line if found.

2. and from here:

open regedit
delete all entries using searchv (F3 for find)
open c:\windows
delete *.reg
reboot
ready ;-)
some Progs read the stored values of searchv in a .reg-file stored in the windowsfolder. If so you can do what you want - each time you reboot this values are reinstalled into the registry. Delete this files shall let you get rid of searchv

Could not find searchv anywhere in registry. IE is set to google. I use firefox exclusively. This page pop up and ad window pop-up is so bad I can barely type.

-This page pop-up is in IE: searchportal.information.com-afris.biz

-always accompanied with ad pop: ADS1.revenue.net

I have ran and scanned with trend internet security pro, ad-aware 2007 and spybot and used high-jack this for a log and deleted/fixed the first three lines(searchv). I am about to put my foot through the front of this comp. I cannot get any work done.

should I "fix" the first R-1 line?

Paste HijackThis Log here and look for suspicious items. It seems these are:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DDCM] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\DDC\DDCManager\DDCMan.exe" -Background
- Must be fixed! Digital Distribution Channel from Wild Tangent - adware

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DDCActiveMenu] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\DDC\ActiveMenu\DDCActiveMenu.exe" -boot
- Must be fixed! Digital Distribution Channel - formally part of the WildTangent on-line games delivery service. Note that WildTanget's privacy policy used to state that they also collect and share individuals information but this is no longer the case

Optionally you may download AVG Anti-Spyware Free Edition from here and run it.
Also I don't know what these are:

O16 - DPF: {0BCADE60-1E93-11D8-ABDA-0004759647B3} (FastBid1 Class) - http://www.bxwa.com/fastbid/fastbidx1.cab

Check if you know this site and fix it if you do not. Unknown ActiveX-Objects, or ActiveX-Objects from unknown sites should always be fixed. If the name of the ActiveX-Object or the URL contains the words 'dialer', 'casino', 'free plugin' etc, it should be fixed!

O16 - DPF: {32322460-3E7D-11D7-ABD8-0001029A9BA6} (FastBid2 Class) - http://www.bxwa.com/fastbid/fastbidx2.cab

You may also fix this:

O4 - Global Startup: ass.cmd

Open hijackthis, click 'config' (bottom right)
Choose the tab 'misc Tools' on top.
Choose 'delete a file on reboot'
In the field, copy and paste next:

C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ass.cmd

Thanks for the help, I ran the log in that auswertung thing and identified and removed 4 more files. Still getting the page pop and the ad pop. However now the ad pops are being caught by internet security pro, still annoying and pauses everything. The fast bid stuff should be ok its a local construction service we have had for years. I think it is secure. I unplugged my machine from the router and still got the page pops with the message IE cannot find this page. I do not use IE at all and would like to completely remove it.

The
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdfmgr.exe
O4 - Global Startup: ass.cmd
are still present.

1. Download Combofix to your desktop.
Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdfmgr.exe

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScript.gif
Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

2. Open hijackthis, click 'config' (bottom right)
Choose the tab 'misc Tools' on top.
Choose 'delete a file on reboot'
In the field, copy and paste next:

C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ass.cmd

You also may update your Java to the latest release, because older versions have system vulnerabilities that can cause installing unwanted malware.

HJT fixed and removed ass.cmd. Problem solved. Thanks for all the help strix! and daniweb!
