thats why I like arch, there is less then legal stuff in its repos.

I could never be bothered to install arch, its install process reminded me too much of a gentoo stage 1. not too keen on packman either

yeah but I am fed up with debians "clean" repos. The debian people just strike me as a bunch of arrogant elitists that some how think that i386 optimization is as fast as i686. I really liked debian but it wasn't fast enough. Its file system was also screwed up. What is with a media and a mnt directory?

well, i currently don't have an extra hard drive to use for linux, but when i get one, i'll hack suse, cause suse rocks and i want to watch dvd's!

Its for backward compatability with old programs which expect the CD etc... to be in a certain place. There both symlinked to eachother.

As mentioned before, I use opensuse 10.2 and I got my dvds to play.

I think you just need to add VLC player to your repository. So you might not even need the libdvdcss or whatever it's called. It might come bundled with VLC player but I'm just guessing.

Try that first. Open suse rocks!
