XP service pack 1. I installed Norton 2004 and Zone Alarm. I then cleaned the computer with Ad-Aware and Spybot.

Something along the way required a re-boot. It activates (responds to the password) and then closes. I can put in the password, it acts like its booting then closes to the the boot screen. Anyone with any ideas?

Try going into safe mode (press F8 during startup) and removing those programs. Do you have an XP disk?
