yeh ive been having problems with the speed of my computer, its really slow and was never this slow. when i open up windows task manager its shows a massive page file usage, and to be honest i have no idea what this is. it always shows a low CPU usage though unless im downloading something. if you need my computer specs here they are : Packard Bell, IMEDIA 5XXX (range), 5077 (model), 256mb of RAM (which isnt ideal), 60GB of memory, Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.66 GHz. thats all i can find out as im no expert and ive got this off my casing and computer itself. any ideas? cheers.

Hi,
There could be a couple of reasons as to why your computer is running slow. It could be because you have loads of programs or processes using up all your memory(not the CPU usage) or it could be that there is a virus in your computer(again, did this happen recently?).

Could you download Hijack This v2.02 and post a log of its scan? Make sure you close all other programs while the scan runs. To give an accurate solution to this problem, the log will be useful.

umm ive already got norton antivirus on my computer and i only run msn, itunes and limewire so i cant see why its being so slow apart from the lack of RAM. is this Hijack stuff like a virus scanner or something?? plus ive got my virtual memory set to the maximum and windows keeps saying its increasing it somehow, does this mean i need more virtual memory and if so how do i get it/what is it?ive used a program called regcure which i found on disk and it said it found 541 errors and then fixed them but my page file usage is still high despite using it, and its still as slow.
