Basically i have problems when i open a chat room on a website; i have an old computer, which may be the problem, but is there a way to download some free programs that will enable me to view and process chat? what other options are available tha i can do to the computer itself to increase processing time? Also, there are some icons and other graphics that will not display.

If its IRC get XChat or something like that and that should be no problem
