"Program files folder" pops up after loading desktop etc, how do you stop this in windows 2000 pro ?

Any more details on this? Sounds like something in that directory is trying to run, but was removed.
At least, do you recall removing any application recently, maybe even a piece of spyware or other malware?

isn't there like a setting that has been tampered with to automatically cause this folder to be opened when windows starts?:-/
