I have just bought a used computer with Windows 7 on it and I found some programs I don't know about and can not understand what I find on Google about them.
Could someone please tell me if I need to keep these programs,
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x86 8.0.50727.4053 and
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redristributable
I don't play any games online or do anything fancy with my computer.

I don't play any games online or do anything fancy with my computer.
A newer drivers and some applications require certain type of libraries. Therefore quite common they install the C++ redistributable or .Net 3.5 . They just enhance the windows with newer version and new libraries. If you uninstall then as soon as you install a new application and it would require it then it will ask or install them again.
But..
When I installed the ATI driver for graphic card (WinXP+Ati HD2600) it has installed the mentioned application on my laptop automatically.
