It's embarassing to ask this, as I do helpdesk work for a living, but hey... if I can't ask here, where can I?
I recently upgraded my system at home to a Pentium 4 (3 ghz) with an Intel Motherboard (915). After doing so, I wiped my hard drive and re-installed Windows XP Home edition from scratch, like I've done many times before. I'm now experiencing two strange issues.
#1. Firefox - I use Firefox as my browser, and twice since the upgrade and re-install (about two weeks ago) My bookmarks have disappeared completely. poof. File gone. I had a backup the first time, so I restored the file. This time, I don't have a backup. I did a search through Windows search and Google desktop for the bookmark file with no results. It's just gone. (yeah, I've checked for spyware/viruses)
#2 - crc errors - Since the upgrade, I get lots of crc errors when installing software either from CD, DVD, or directly from a downloaded file. Generally, I can just click "ignore" and it continues on it's merry way without any particular issues, but it's still an annoyance. It tends to happen mostly with CDs and DVDs.
If anyone's ever heard of odd issues like this... I know it's a little vague, but...
