After the latest Microsoft Windows XP hotfix (the browser checker), I am unable to check my email in Microsoft Outlook (request times out). The Internet is very slow in IE8, and fails to load pages in Firefox at all.
I have reinstalled IE8, Firefox, and Outlook to no avail. Have also played around with DNS, and tried many different DNS servers.
Anyone got any ideas what I could try next?

P.S, don't know if this is relevant, but I believe the browserchecker.exe is supposed to ask which browsers you want to use at start up - THIS HAS NEVER APPEARED. - doesn't even load anything when you click on the exe in system32 folder.
