Hello there,
I started having problems burning music on Nero Express 6 yesterday which somehow affected the Windows Media Player and Creative PlayCenter applications.
1. Nero indicated that I was missing the WinASpi file which I subsequently corrected and now Nero is working fine.
2. When I try to launch Creative PlayCenter the following message comes up:
"Failed to initialize Disc Detector. The file MediaDet.exe may be missing or an incorrect version. You will not be able to play disc-based media." Then, it crashes.
Now, I uninstalled Creative and reinstalled it, but to no avail. Also, the MediaDet.exe file is on my computer. It's located in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL.
How do I fix this problem?
3. And now, Windows Media Player doesn't seem to recognize my CD-Rom. The following error comes up:
"Windows Media Player encountered an error reading the CD-ROM drive in digital mode. Click OK to switch to analog mode. Click Cancel to retry playing in digital mode."
I've tried following Windows Media Player's Help instructions, but nothing works. I am able to listen to any music that is not disc-based on Windows Media Player - i.e. MP3s, WMAs and so on. Also, I am able to listen to audio CDs in other applications such as Real Player and the default player on the computer. So, it couldn't be the CD-Rom, could it?
I thank everyone in advance for any help you can give me.
Regards,
Sarine
